I went on a week long solo trip through the Julian Alps in June 2023; it was my first solo road trip. After a 16 hour red eye flight, I got into my rental car and drove into the mountains for a short hike. I was so looking forward to being back in the mountains that I jumped out of the car and immediately started walking, forgetting both sunglasses and sunscreen. It was a peaceful week in the Alps; waking up early for sunrise hikes, eating baguettes and cheese in the car for lunch, and watching the sun set behind the peaks.
